What is Rain all about?
Were about good times and putting the audience on the dance floor. Remember
the music that helped make the great times great? Thats what Rain is about!
Rain plays the good-time songs you
remember, mostly from the 60s and 70s. Youll know
all the words. With timeless classics by Wilson Pickett, The Beatles, John Mellancamp, The
Doobie Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Bob Seger, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Queen, Joe Cocker,
and lots more (even a little Travis Tritt), plus some one-hit-wonders you might have
forgotten about, Rain intends to keep you on the dance floor from start to finish.
Rain was formed in early 2004 from
seasoned musicians in the Wichita, Kansas area. Now a first-call band for concerts
and special events of all kinds, you may have seen us at the 3-day Wheatland Jam Festival,
or the Cotillion Ballroom or on the West Bank Stage at the Wichita River Festival opening
concerts by Boston, Journey, REO Speedwagon, .38 Special and 1964: The (Beatles) Tribute.
Or perhaps youve seen us at events for Raytheon Aircraft, Cessna Aircraft,
the American Diabetes Association, MDA Bikers for Babies or other special events, private
parties and nightclubs around the region.
What about the players? The
six players, and their soundman, are about two things - making the music as good as we can
make it, and everyone having fun, both you and us. Theres a lot of experience
in the band, and theres some young cats, too. Several of us teach privately but we
all only know one way to play, and thats as if its our last time. Check out
the Bios page for more info on each member.
Theres a wide range of
musical influences in the band, spanning at least a couple of generations, including
British rock, Chicago blues, horn bands, jazz, metal, country, Motown and the great male
singer/songwriters. Everyones ears and ideas go into making each Rain selection
fresh but faithful to the original. With Rockys powerful vocals and the bands
tight arrangements, Rain takes the audience on a roller-coaster dynamic musical journey it
wont soon forget.
The band prides itself on not just playing songs, but putting on an
interactive show. A great mix of outstanding musicianship and just plain fun! |
